Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, it was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly after. Corcoran, one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she's signed 53 deals on the show, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment in 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in a Catholic Irish working class family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented employee throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. Sometimes, her family depended on free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father, a man who sometimes drank excessively, and behaved towards her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had some drinks. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and she discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to an Catholic primary school within her area and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After failing several classes during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she graduated as a D student.
